Way to go guys! Please correct, sign and return test tomorrow.

Today we reviewed some of the important aspects of the giver before our test tomorrow

In social we explored the charter of rights and freedoms origins and how important events in time shaped it.

Also, a bottle of perfume went missing from school the other day. Please ask your children if they know anything about it.

For any students that got below 75% on the science test, there will be a retest on Thursday at lunch.

Today the students began their day by continuing their exploration of BEDMAS and Orders of Operations. Check out Mathletics and Math antics for some great tips and videos.

After math, the students did a venn digram examining the differences between the play we saw on Friday and the Giver book we finished on Thursday. Tomorrow we will be going over some key terms for the quiz on the book on Wednesday.

In the middle block of the day the students went to Mr Mueller to explore their new science concept: Sky science! Today they learned about the distances in space.

In the afternoon the students had a large block in which we reviewed the charter of rights and freedoms through a junior friendly version of the document. We then explored a short story in which a child goes through their daily life and we summarized which charter sections were present.

Students finished off the day with a fitness session in gym.

Have a great evening everyone!

In the afternoon we finished our Giver Novel and had a conversation about:
How the ending made us feel?
What do you think happened in the ending?
We also had some time to write some questions for the theatre tomorrow. Students will have a chance to talk to the cast and ask questions about the play.

Science project is now officially late and is due tomorrow at 8:00 am!

The students of room 14 had to take some time today to reflect on making better choices in grade 6. Their science teacher, Mr Mueller, gave them 12 hours of in class time to complete their science flight magazine projects. Some of the students finished their projects on time and to them I applaud and thank them for showing their growing maturity and responsible choices as learners. That being said, 2/3's of my class did not finish the project by the due date. This date was even extended one day for the students to ensure they finished on time. Students that did not finish their project on time will be expected to finish it tonight for homework, no exceptions. It is of the utmost importance that students finish this project so that Mr Mueller can mark the project and students remain responsible for their own learning. If the project is not completed by tomorrow morning at 8:00 am I will be phoning home to talk to parents about students work ethic and how they will be working to complete their projects on their 5 day holiday instead of doing the fun activities that should be taking place.
Students, please carefully reflect on why you chose not to finish the project before the due date and come up with a plan on how to not let it happen again.
Students should own their learning.
Thank you.

After the math quiz students were given time to finish their science project. This was the last chance to work on the project and it us due at 8:00 am. No exceptions :)

In the afternoon we took up the math test, marked it, and talked about the answers.
