Happy Tuesday Oct 16

Reminders:
Layers of the forest project due tomorrow
Swim forms due Friday
Swimming next week!
Social Skit Presentations Thursday

I am very pleased to report that my sub yesterday told me the students were on task and respectful! Thank room 14 for showing care for others, self, learning and place!

Today the students began their day with music practicing on their band instruments.

After music we immediately headed to the library to see all of the grade 6 social city projects and check out new books.

After an intense game of fireball in gym students returned to class for math!

In math this week we are extending our understanding of basic facts into decimal computation. The basics of decimals can be confusing for students as it is abstract to think whole numbers can be broken into smaller pieces. I am helping students to see that decimals, fractions, percents are all the same just written in different ways! This week we will be focusing on addition and subtraction of decimals...Remember: whole number - &+ is the same as decimal + & - just bring the decimal down!

I sent home a basic math sheet to practice decimals + &- for tomorrow.

In LA we continued to analyze poems in preparation for our first poetry project....The Poetry Anthology!

In the afternoon, students were given a large chunk of time to work on social bylaw skits. I expect students to be able to depict the bylaw process in the form of a small play that will be presented on Thursday!

Students also looked rather dapper for picture day!

Have a great evening!!
